Be hushed my soul, thou hast a Friend
Who sees thy weak intent,
A Brother intercedes above
Ere yet thy cry was sent ;
Know that, thy Father loves to hear
Thy plaintive moan, thy secret sigh,
Although, thy words unuttered were
Before the Lord most high.
When in some secret place I sigh
Beneath my load of care ,
And onwards still I fain would try,
But often meet despair ;
The thought will strike me of that one,
Still sees me though I'm left forlorn ,
I shall not always thus bemoan ,
A better day will dawn.

And others by the wide wave parted ;
