II CWMWD TALYBOLION.

Tybia rhai fod cyfathrach rhwng Talybolion a Suetonuis Paulinus-Rigio Paulini-Tal-Polion. Tybia rhai i Suetonius Paulinus feddianu rhan o'r cwmwd hwr fel ffrwyth ei fuddugoliaeth, ac i'w enw o hyny allan lynu wrth ei randir: ond y mae hyn oll yn bur annhebygol.

Ymddengys fod gwreidd-darddiad yr enw gan Mr. Rowlands yn llawer mwy rhesymol, dywed ef fel hyn: "I am rather inclined to believe, that as certain teritories in Cumberland are called Copeland (ap acuminatu, collibus) as Mrs. Camden observes, so this name might be derived from many, and coped hills, which are here and there in that teritory called Moelion, or Moelydd, of which one or two return that application of Moel to this day. On which account I take it probable such baretopped hills being called Moelion, yet, therefore that region abounding with those hillocks might then be called Tal y Moelion; and, consequently, that the letters M and B being of one organ, are easily convertible one to another and premiscuously pronouced in our tongue, it might so come to pass in tract of time that Tal y Moelion, came to be called Tal y Bolion, as Moel y Don is now commonly called Bol y Don, and for further confirmation of it we have one bleakhill in this country called y Voel, and the teritory adjoining it is called Tal y Voel to this day."—"Mona Antiqua Restaura" t.d. 114-15.

Taflen yn cynwys enwau y plwyfydd yn y Cwmwd hwn; a'r flwyddyn yr adeiladwyd yr eglwysi:
